(London, UK) – November 13, 2017 – REASON8 Films announces the U.S. theatrical release of Dark Meridian, the indie feature with screenings in Los Angeles and New York, followed by an early 2018 digital release with Random Media through The Orchard and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. REASON8 Films is handling worldwide sales.
Billy Slaughter (The Big Short, Bad Moms, The Magnificent Seven) stars in the thriller and is cast with other New Orleans actors who had roles in The Magnificent Seven, The Big Short, The Walking Dead, Logan, and Daddy’s Home.
The feature is written and directed by first-time director, Rankin Hickman, and set in the seedy underworld streets of New Orleans – after Louisiana was hit hard by mother nature and the local industry were out of work due to the cap on film tax credits.
Dark Meridian tells the story of two rival mob families and a corrupt detective that finds himself stuck in the middle of their dispute. In order to survive the night, he has to find a killer and take him out before the gunman murders more targets.
Denis Krupnov of the London based international sales and production company, REASON8 Films remarks, “It is extremely rare nowadays to find a raw gritty thriller that doesn’t look amateurish nor artificial. Dark Meridian represents such indie crime thriller that we knew and loved before. The acting and production values are fantastic. It really shows how much talent Louisiana has and why major Hollywood blockbusters are filmed there.”
The 92-minute movie stars and is executive produced by Billy Slaughter (as Patrick Fox), Ronald M. LaMarque (as Oren Marek); produced by Rankin Hickman, Jimi Woods (from Tough Luck, ABC Family’s Ravenswood) and Welch Lambeth (from Django Unchained, Bad Moms).
Others cast in Dark Meridian are James Moses Black (Terminator Genisys, Logan, and TV’s 24: Legacy); Dave Davis (Daddy’s Home, Logan, and TV’s True Detective) and David Kallaway (The Magnificent Seven). Other cast include Deneen Tyler (12 Years a Slave); James Moses Black (Criminal Minds); and); Paul Rae (True Grit) and Christopher Berry (Free State of Jones).
REASON8 Films is a London based international sales and production company. The company was formed in Autumn 2015 and took over most of the affairs of AV Pictures that stopped trading. REASON8 represents films from around the world with a focus on English language independent commercial feature films, talent and subject matter led drama and television drama series.
