Opening night includes Q&A with Director Rankin Hickman and actor Billy Slaughter
Los Angeles, CA (November 13, 2017) – The UK’s REASON8 Films announces the theatrical release of Dark Meridian, their new U.S. indie feature crime thriller that stars Billy Slaughter (The Big Short, Bad Moms, The Magnificent Seven) and Hollywood film production supervisor in New Orleans turned first-time writer/director, Rankin Hickman (Runaway Jury, 22 Jump Street, Parker, 2 Guns, and AMC’s Into the Badlands). Dark Meridian opens on December 1st in Beverly Hills at The Laemmle Music Hall (9036 Wilshire Blvd). Both Slaughter and Hickman will present the film and do a Q&A at the opening night screening.
Set in the seedy underworld streets of New Orleans, Dark Meridian tells the story of two rival mob families and a corrupt detective that finds himself stuck in the middle of their dispute. In order to survive the night, he has to find a killer and take him out before the gunman murders more targets.
Despite mother nature’s attacks on Louisiana and the declining film industry, the two were set to make a production on their own: “After I gave the script to Billy Slaughter and he loved it, we realized we had the same vision – to make a local movie any way we can, and utilize the talented actors and crew who are out of work. Even though it’s low-budget, the result is amazing. It received a great response from the festivals and New Orleans Premiere and I am thrilled for audiences to see it in Los Angeles,” says Rankin Hickman.
Other cast include: James Moses Black (Terminator Genisys, Logan, and TV’s 24: Legacy); Dave Davis (Daddy’s Home, Logan, and TV’s True Detective); Deneen Tyler (12 Years a Slave); James Moses Black (Criminal Minds); and David Kallaway (The Magnificent Seven); Paul Rae (True Grit) and Christopher Berry (Free State of Jones). The film was execute produced by Billy Slaughter (as Patrick Fox), Ronald M. LaMarque (as Oren Marek) and produced by Jimi Woods (from Tough Luck, ABC Family’s Ravenswood) and Welch Lambeth (from Django Unchained, Bad Moms).
Dark Meridian is represented worldwide and released theatrically in the US by REASON8 Films, a London based international sales and co-production company that focuses on independent feature films and television series.
The film will be released digitally in early 2018 by Random Media, through The Orchard and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.
